Melanie Davis: If dystopia had a lounge singer, it would be Melanie A. Davis. A classically trained vocalist from west KY, Davis blends bossa nova rhythms and Appalachian fingerstyle traditions to create a backdrop for her poignant, witty, and often political lyrics.
Sophia Lanuza: Sophia Lanuza is a singer-songwriter from Stamford, Connecticut who turns lyrics akin to hilarious and relatable journal entries into pop-sensible songs full of impressively catchy hooks. As introspective and sardonically smart as it is carefree and tongue-in-cheek.
Madisun Bailey: Madisun Bailey, an Annapolis/Baltimore based self- taught singer- songwriter cultivates a distinctive style fusing soul, jazz, funk, with a splash of rock and blues. Her percussive guitar technique and lyrical prowess are central to her artistry. Madisun regularly plays in venues, bars, restaurants, festivals, all around the DMV area.
Angie Miller: Echoing the styles of Joni Mitchell, Shawn Colvin, and Patty Griffin, Angie Miller's lyric-driven songs tell a distinct story that summons up a vivid atmosphere of a time and a place. Her musical style draws from folk, country, and jazz influences, “stirring up a spicy gumbo of songs,” says Bay Weekly.
